These are the teams that are currently confirmed:

  • Unicorns of Love (EU LCS – IEM Oakland champions)
  • H2k-Gaming (EU LCS – Top four at the 2016 World Championship)
  • M19 Team (CIS – Top eight at the 2016 World Championship)
  • Cloud9 (NA LCS – Top eight at the 2016 World Championship)

Though not yet confirmed, EDward Gaming (LPL), SK Telecom T1 (LCK), and Samsung Galaxy (LCK) are scheduled to take three of the remaining four spots.

These teams all qualified for IEM Katowice by being their region’s top performer at the 2016 World Championship, aside from Unicorns of Love and Samsung Galaxy; they qualified by winning IEM Oakland and IEM Gyeonggi, respectively.

There has been no news regarding the final team. Since no team from the LMS made it to the quarterfinals at the 2016 World Championship, the spot is up for grabs.
