Dr Mundo isn’t a meta jungle pick in League of Legends. However, some teams at Worlds 2025, including T1, have turned to him when the draft called for something unexpected, even if it wasn’t part of their original plans.
“In game 5, I picked Dr Mundo, a pick I hadn’t actually practiced before. Back then, I was worried we’d lose in the draft and ban cycle, so I chose that pick to avoid any regrets,” Oner said in an interview with Shanghai News, referring to picking Mundo in the do-or-die match against Anyone’s Legend.

Oner admitted that T1 hadn’t gone into the draft with any grand plan. Seraphine and the other comfort picks were ones they’d practiced. Dr Mundo, though, was a different story. The T1 jungler confessed he barely knew the champion’s abilities as he skimmed through, double-checked his runes, and built a path with Coach Tom.
The jungler didn’t have the flashiest outing, but T1 effectively used Mundo’s sustainability to get an edge during the teamfights and used his poke damage to neutralize high-priority targets.
At Worlds 2025, Dr Mundo is a niche but powerful pick right now. According to the stats site DPM.lol, the Madman of Zaun has four appearances with a 100 percent win rate. As he’s not a meta pick, he hasn’t attracted any bans throughout the international event.
T1’s ADC Gumayusi said in an interview with Hotspawn that Dr Mundo was a “spur of the moment pick” during the decider, and the team took inspiration from G2 Esports, whose jungler Skemond played the champion twice and won both matches. Skewmond also recorded a KDA of 16 on Dr Mundo, which shows how the unconventional pick can turn the tides during Fearless Drafts in the later phases, when teams are short on meta champions.
T1 will face KT Rolster at the Worlds 2025 finals in Chengdu, China, where the Korean sides might bring more creative picks like Mundo.
