It has been two months since the newest League of Legends champion, Camille, hit the Public Beta Environment (PBE) servers, and many fans expected to see some glimpse of the next champion over the past few weeks. Sadly, though, Riot confirmed that the Galio update will take precedence over the new champion, and explained why it is taking so long to release any information on the subject.
In a post on the message boards, Andrei “Meddler” van Roon, Riot’s lead champion designer, explained the situation. “We’ve had long gaps between champ releases in the past due to unexpected issues cropping up, and I imagine that’ll happen again at some point,” Meddler said. “In this particular case, though, we felt it was worth delaying a new champ release for a while to buy us the time to work on some stuff we otherwise wouldn’t have the people for.”
Riot’s staff seems to be taking extra time in this instance to get everything right, as opposed to just rushing a new champion out as a broken mess. There is no current timetable for the release of a new champion, but until Riot’s design team can overcome these unexpected issues, players will simply just continue using the current champion pool.
