Rekkles – from AD last-hitter to ADC

Elements’s Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has lately been criticized quite often for his KDA-chasing play style, and rightly so, one might agree. However, the recent acquisition of the support player Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels seems to be influencing Rekkles’s game quite heavily, especially in terms of damage done to champions, so here is the breakdown of his damage statistics of EU LCS spring split 2015, week by week, to paint the entire picture.

Week 1
– Graves 0/4/6 KDA, loss vs Fnatic – 12.2k damage done, second to Froggen in his team (20.1k), 6th highest in the match (highest: Febiven 30.7k)
– Graves 5/0/7 KDA, win vs UOL  – 13.1k damage done, second to Froggen in his team (21.8k), 3rd highest in the match (highest: Froggen)

Week 2
– Graves 7/0/6 KDA, win vs CW – 20.3.k damage done, second to Froggen in his team (25.7k), 4th highest in the match (highest: Froggen)
– Graves 11/1/8 KDA, win vs ROC – 36.2k damage done, second to Froggen in his team (39.6.k), 4th highest in the match (highest: Woolite 40.7k)

An interesting note: at this point, in an episode of Summoning Insight, MonteCristo remarked that Elements are doing fine and probably will keep doing doing fine and will place high at the end of the split, while Fnatic will eventually fall off. The sentiments were echoed by the show’s host Thooorin.

Week 3
– Graves 7/1/5 KDA, win vs MYM – 17.2k damage done, second to Froggen in his team (25.9k), 3rd highest in the match (highest: Froggen)
– Graves 5/1/3 KDA, loss vs SK – 14.4k damage done, the most in his team, 4th highest in the match (highest: Forg1ven 20.4k)

note: this week marks the beginning of the slide for Elements. In hindsight, they didn’t have the easiest of schedules, but still came away with a 4-2 record, losing to the top 2 teams at the time, Fnatic and SK, while beating heavily slumping Roccat and MYM, inconsistent UOL, while CW picked it up as the split continued.

Week 4
– Graves 0/0/1 KDA, loss vs H2K – 9.2k damage done, the most in his team, 3rd highest in the match (highest: Ryu 12.4k)
– Graves 4/1/3 LDA, loss vs GMB – 19.3k damage done, the most in his team, 3rd highest in the match (highest: Diamond 26.7k)

note: Elements ran into H2K and Gambit who both just started ramping up and continued with insane winning streaks – H2K’s winning streak still lasts.

Week 5
– Corki 2/2/10 KDA, loss vs GIA – 16.5k damage done, second to Froggen in his team (31.9k), 3rd highest in the match (highest: Froggen)
– Sivir 0/2/0 KDA, loss vs ROC – 6.1k damage done, 4th highest in the team (highest: Froggen 7.9k), 8th highest in the match (highest: Nukeduck 20.4k)

note: Prior to this week, Kev1n was brought in the Elements’s lineup as a substitute for Wickd. It seemed to be working out against Giants until the throw of epic proportions (cue “they were winning until they lost”), then Elements faceplanted against Roccat. This also marks the first week Rekkles picked a champion that is not Graves.

Week 6
– Kalista 6/1/7 KDA, win vs MYM – 15.9k damage done, highest in his team and in the match
– Jinx 0/2/1 KDA, loss vs SK – 6.5k damage done, second to Froggen in his team (8.4k), 5th highest in the match (highest: fredy122 15.2k)

note: Prior to this week, Krepo was brought into the starting lineup instead of Nyph and it seemed he immediately clicked with Rekkles, but it is worth noting that they played last-placed MYM. In their first true test, versus SK, it seemed like they did little more than roll over and die. It is also the first week Rekkles had a match with the highest damage done to champions in the match.

Week 7
– Corki 9/1/2 KDA, loss vs CW – 49.3k damage done, highest in his team and in the match (#ByFar)
– Corki 2/1/4 KDA, loss vs UOL – 41.2k damage done, highest in his team and in the match (again #ByFar)

note: Prior to this week, Kev1n was taken out of the starting lineup and Wickd was brought back in but certainly did not deliver. Conversely, Rekkles put up insane damage numbers and had some uncharacteristically aggressive moves, as well as delaying the loss to CW with a 1v1 kill on SorenXD very late into the match.

Elements play H2K and Gambit in week 8, and Giants and Fnatic in week 9, or, in other words three teams in a much better form and a team that dealt them an extremely painful loss in week 5. As it is, Elements are on the verge of playing the relegation series, but they can draw optimism from the fact that Rekkles – under the influence of Krepo – is finally stepping up and doing what his position suggest he should have been doing all along – carrying by dealing attack damage.
