The team once known as Reason Gaming will soon compete under a new name: Meet Overclockers UK.
After leaving leaving Reason on June 5, the team made it clear it wanted to keep competing in the European League Challenger Series for the summer. Not long after this, Overclockers approached the team and offered to sponsor them, sources close to the organization tell the Daily Dot.
The team is best known for marksman Paweł “Celaver” Koprianiuk and top laner Jakub “Kubon” Turewicz, both of whom have professional experience. Koprianiuk has multiple stints with Kiedyś Miałem Team, later known as ROCCAT. Turewicz, for his part, joined Gambit Gaming after the retirement of Evgeny “Darien” Mazaev in July 2014. Both were released by their teams in the winter off-season, after which they Reason Gaming. Marcin “Xayoo” Majkut, Rafał “TakeFun” Górniak, and Marek “Libik” Kręgiel round out the squad.
The former Reason squad has already had one shot at the LCS. In March, Dignitas.EU was forced to forfeit its playoff spot because two of its players were too young to compete in the League Championship Series. Reason Gaming took its spot and secured a spot in the Promotion Tournament, where it lost to GIANTS! Gaming. As a result, the team remained in the Challenger Series and will continue to compete this split, under its new Overclockers UK name.
This will be Overclockers UK first venture into the world of esports. Its parent organization, Caseking, attempted to field a team for the 2015 Summer Qualifiers, but that side lost to Ex Nihilo on June 2. Overclockers UK’s first match of the Summer Split, which will not be broadcasted, will take place on June 23, in which it will battle fellow EUCS member Gamers2.
