Gumayusi says Yunara is OP but reveals one part of her kit that might hold her back

She’s fast and lethal but not without flaws.

T1’s star ADC, Gumayusi, has weighed in on League of Legends’ newest champion, Yunara. While he had a generally positive reaction to the champion, he also pointed out a potential weakness in her kit that might limit her impact in professional play.

“I’ve played Yunara now, she’s really fun, and the champion feels pretty good,” Gumayusi said in a livestream after wrapping up EWC 2025. “After playing her, I think she’s kind of a mix between Twitch and Zeri. She’s definitely OP right now,” he explained.

The veteran ADC said Yunara brings Twitch-like pressure in teamfights, while her W and E abilities feel reminiscent of Zeri. Despite her impactful kit, Gumayusi pointed out that her laning phase could be a slight vulnerability—something that junglers might exploit to shut her down early.

Still, he doesn’t believe it’s a significant concern. Her laning isn’t “particularly weak,” Gumayusi said, and overall, the champion doesn’t seem to have any glaring flaws. Ultimately, her true power level as a champion will only be revealed once she’s tested in official esports matches, where the meta and potential counters will come into play.

With Yunara, Riot is bringing an aggressive yet easy-to-play ADC, and she looks ready to shake up the meta, especially in coordinated team environments where her mobility and AoE potential can shine and make her a threat in the late game.

If the early impressions from a veteran like Gumayusi are anything to go by, teams may need to start preparing for her sooner rather than later. Given that two of Gumayusi’s three career pentakills were earned with Zeri, there’s a good chance he’ll look to bring Yunara into his arsenal when she’s available in pro play.

Whether Yunara will live up to the hype remains to be seen. But for now, fans and pros alike will have to wait until the Fearless Draft rotation allows her to make her competitive debut.
