Faker has already cemented himself as one of the greatest players in esports history, dominating League of Legends for over a decade. In a recent interview, the T1 veteran talked about what his perfect video game would look like, and it’s not for the faint of heart.
“If I ever design a game, I’ll try to make it very hard and very challenging so that when the fans actually get to clear those games, they feel very accomplished,” Faker said in an interview with Esports Insider.
Faker’s taste in video games seems to align with the Soulslike genre. In these games, players start weak, chipping away at seemingly insurmountable foes, and gradually grow stronger through grit and experience. Once strong enough, they finally land the decisive blow and bask in that hard-earned dopamine rush of victory. That’s exactly the kind of challenge Faker envisions in his idea of the perfect video game.
South Korean developers have already delivered one of the best Soulslike games in the world with Lies of P. Faker could partner with Round8 Studio to create the next big Soulslike from Korea, or simply start his own studio to translate his passion for games to the fans.
Faker has been known to stream a variety of games in his streams apart from League. These range from horror flicks like Little Nightmares to frustrating platformers like Jump King and Pogostuck, which would induce rage in anyone. He also plays games like A Dance of Fire and Ice and Poly Bridge in between champion select to warm up his fingers, and players worldwide try to replicate the routine to pull brilliant performances as the GOAT himself.
While his game isn’t officially in the works, there’s always a chance he will eventually make one after he retires from esports.
