Complete with jetpacks, space piracy, and lots of fire—Dreadnova Darius could be one of League of Legends’ most badass skins, but you can’t obtain it by throwing cash at Riot. If you want it, you’ll have to craft it.
Dreadnova Darius was revealed last week by Riot on its social media pages, and it’s the second skin in the Dreadnova series following Dreadnova Gangplank’s release in January. The skin turns the Noxian dunkmaster into a fearsome space pirate, and it definitely looks cool.
The skin comes with all-new animations, particle effects, and a jetpack. Who doesn’t love jetpacks? It’s clear that a lot of effort went into the design of it, and under normal circumstances it would probably be a higher-end skin, upwards of 1820 RP. Unfortunately for those of us that like spending our hard-earned cash on making our favorite champions look slick, we won’t actually be able to buy this one.
That’s right, it’s loot-only. That means you can only obtain the skin through League’s crafting system. Just like Hextech Annie and Soulstealer Vayne (two equally awesome skins), you have to be lucky enough to find ten gemstones in your loot chests or be even luckier and find a skin shard for Dreadnova Darius.
If you’ve been saving up your gemstones because you don’t really like Vayne or Annie, hold on to them for just a little longer. Dreadnova Darius is in the Public Beta Environment (PBE) right now—League’s client for players to test new features and give feedback on them before they go live. That means the skin should go live with the next patch. Patch 7.6 just went live this week, so patch 7.7 with Dreadnova Darius should only be a few weeks away.
