Playoffs around the world began with a relatively staid week and a half of playoffs where the favourites won and evenly matched teams had close series. That ended this weekend. Both CLG defeating Impulse (and finally reaching an LCS final), TSM defeating Liquid were both minor upsets, though explainable ones; Impulse had an unfortunate roster change and despite that played a series much closer than the 3-0 scoreline suggests and Liquid had looked vulnerable in the mid/late game for some time.

Both of these were blown out of the water by EDG's consecutive losses. After a 14 game winning streak EDG lost one match 0-3 to LDG and another 1-3 to IG. Now it should be said that during the last two weeks of the regular season EDG was playing a very week set of opponents (OMG was the best of these), so this slump could have been brewing before anyone realised. It is nonetheless one of the most abrupt loss-of-form's in League history.
