The ascending island of PEAK spawns a variety of items for you to collect, but not all of them are useful, and some might not even be safe. Considering you want to avoid accidents on the way to the top and use your limited inventory space carefully, it’s natural to be worried about carrying around an inedible bean without knowing what it can do. What are Magic Beans in PEAK?

A Magic Bean is an equipment item in PEAK that produces a tall climbable bean stalk upon use. It’s one of the best climbing equipment, available in early game. If you’re yet to find one, try looking for a pink fruit with a green sprout growing out of it. And if you have one, don’t throw it around and drop it—we explain why below. 

Where to get Magic Beans in PEAK

You can get Magic Beans in the first region of PEAK, which is the Shore. Some players have reported spotting it in the Alpine region, but we’ve found all of ours while exploring the beach. Make sure you look near the waters and everywhere on the beach, not just the crash site.

Don’t fret if you don’t get a Magic Bean during your run. It isn’t a common item, so you’ll rarely run into one. If you do, consider yourself lucky and learn what’s the best way to use it.

How to use Magic Beans in PEAK

To use a Magic Bean in PEAK, simply throw (Q button) it to the ground. It’ll produce a tall and thick stalk at the point it’s dropped. You can climb this stalk like you climb walls or other structures. Once you drop the bean, you can’t stop it from growing, so don’t throw it unless you’re sure of the spot.

It’s crucial to keep the stalk’s length and structure in mind, or you may not be able to use it. For example, it’s best to drop it near a platform or a point you can stand on that doesn’t have a climbable wall nearby, so you can climb the stalk and reach the platform. Climbing the stalk consumes your stamina as a wall normally does. So, if you don’t have a platform nearby to recharge or don’t have anything to boost your stamina, it may be a waste.

If you lose consciousness while a Magic Bean is in your inventory (not your backpack), the bean will automatically spawn a stalk at the point of your body. When playing multiplayer, this may help your teammates reach you and offer help before you succumb.
