In the third part of the beloved Underworld sequel, scoring S ranks is essential to unlock a thrilling secret boss fight in the end. While accepting Tenna’s invitation gives you some basic tips on how the ranking system works, DELTARUNE doesn’t make the path to perfection entirely clear.

Whether you’re trying to be perfect in every round or searching for a shortcut to glory, this guide breaks down everything you need to know to consistently hit S rank in DELTARUNE Chapter 3.

How to get S rank in DELTARUNE Chapter 3

Generally speaking, you can earn an S rank in a round of DELTARUNE by acing most of the challenges in a round. This includes winning your battles against enemies by taking as little damage as possible and maintaining high Tension Points (TP). Besides combat, you need to solve as many puzzles as you can and score high in the minigame that you unlock at the end of a round.

If you’re looking for additional help with achieving S rank in DELTARUNE, we’ve shared a few tips and tricks to keep in mind.

When taking on enemies in DELTARUNE Chapter 3, your goal should be to defeat them as fast as possible while avoiding their attacks. Dodging enemy bullets is key. If you’re new to the DELTARUNE combat system, we recommend:

  1. Moving as little as possible.
  2. Following the enemy’s attack patterns and moving accordingly.

Some players find it easier with the controller, so if you’re on mouse and keyboard, you may want to consider switching.

Besides taking minimal damage, you also need to focus on earning TP and maintaining the bar to your left. You can gain TP by hitting your enemies, using defend moves, and by consuming certain items.

How to gain points toward S rank without combat

When not fighting, you can gain points towards S rank by uncovering mysteries on the map and achieving a high score in the round’s minigame.

In every round of DELTARUNE Chapter 3, you’ll come across a bunch of secret possibilities as you explore, like the secret mechanic lets you pull weeds with Susie for extra points. You can also gather coins and answer quizzes for extra points. If you’re diligent enough with these, you should be able to compensate for some of the battles in which you fail to earn an S rank.

If you fail to score an S rank in a round of DELTARUNE, don’t worry. There’s a way to exchange the points you earn for one. But before you get all excited, there’s a limitation here: You can only take advantage of this if you haven’t completed the second board yet.

You can exchange 1,500 points for an S rank. For this, you need to talk to the colorful NPC near a Tenna Statue. To find this guy, exit the Green Room and run down the hall facing left.

Now that you’re an S rank player in DELTARUNE Chapter 3, you can find the Ice Key and other requirements, which leads to the secret boss everyone’s talking about.
