Team HSP constantly strive for Top 100 Finishes each season (Lucky and Koroneko both made Top 100 in the June Season) and we’d like to share the knowledge and the decks that we use during our climb with you.

At this point of the July season, what have you been using to climb the ladder with?

I’ve been out of the country for most of the week on vacation in Mexico, but I’ve been playing mostly Malygos Handlock and Control Priest. Currently im Rank 8, but by the time this article is released I’ll probably pretty close to Legend. I’ve been playing these decks primarily to reinforce my knowledge of different archetypes and fun. They’re very unique decks and difficult to master, but have very enjoyable although slow gameplay.

What are the common decks you have been facing during your games?

For some reason I’ve been facing a lot of Druid…which I don’t really understand because I don’t feel that its all that great for laddering with. Also seeing a decent amount of Hunter. What’s surprising is the lack of Patron, probably because I’m a little behind on the “Race to Legend” due to my time off.

What deck would you recommend climbing the ladder with?

Patron, because its hands down the strongest deck around. If you care about winning, play Patron.

Closing

If you really want to push and climb ladder to hit your legend for your first/2nd time, or want to achieve some sort of goal, play Patron. Even if it feels like you aren’t as well with Patron as you would with another deck, its more worthwhile to learn how to play the deck than to struggle with another Tier 2 deck that ultimately isn’t as strong as patron. Once you get good at the deck, you should skyrocket up the ranks.

I’d definitely recommend the decks I listed earlier if you want to have a little fun though, they’re very different and offbeat. It feels nice to be playing something somewhat unique. I also really enjoy the control playstyle of these decks. They’re the type of decks that can just run your opponent out of resources and win through attrition.

At this point of the July season, what have you been using to climb the ladder with?

Patron Warrior, at 65% win ratio so far.

What are the common decks you have been facing during your games?

I’m at Rank 5 atm, so far I have faced:

What deck would you recommend climbing the ladder with?

Aggro Hunter: Good vs slower Hunters, Aggro Pally, Handlock, Zoo, Tempo Mage

Patron: Good vs Hunter, Zoo, Aggro Pally, Druid

Control Warrior: Good vs Patron, Rogues, Aggro, decent vs Hunters

Closing

Can’t have fun…I need Top 100!!!!!! But I’m seriously trying to improve my Patron as much as I can.

At this point of the July season, what have you been using to climb the ladder with?

Mainly SMOrc/Aggro Paladin, went from 16 to 9 easily, Hunter is a very good matchup for the deck and being that it was the first few days of the season there were lots of Hunters. Since then I’ve been transitioning between Patron Warrior, Hybrid Hunter, and Hybrid Mage. (at rank 6 right now)

Paladin deck list

Hunter deck list

What are the common decks you have been facing during your games?

Lots of Patron Warrior, Aggro Paladin, and the inevitable Hunter, the latter, though, is probably going to slowly die down as the season progresses. One thing I haven’t been seeing is Malygos Warlock.

What deck would you recommend climbing the ladder with?

Either Patron Warrior or Handlock, depending on how much hunter you are seeing, as obviously the less aggressive hunter you see, the better handlock becomes, which in turn slightly counters patron.

This deck is a work in progress, and I know its not built optimally, but this “Hybrid” mage, has been doing decent for me, its seems to have good matchups against Face Hunter and Control Warrior and bad matchups against Druid and Patron (very small sample size so there’s a ton of variance in these observations) http://imgur.com/jX8ewBw

Note: I am currently trying out 1 Echo of Medivh in the place of one clockwork gnome, not sure how it’s gonna go but this is the most successful list at the moment.

Lucky

At this point of the July season, what have you been using to climb the ladder with?

I started with Priest on EU, in order to get the golden portrait, then switched to NA. At the beginning I was alternating between multiple decks. From rank 5 to legend I’ve mainly been playing:

Patron Warrior: http://imgur.com/1GikIOv

Dragon Warlock (only 10-12 games): http://imgur.com/BrOxUhE

Midrange Hunter, better one was: http://imgur.com/Ircw6Ns

Hyena didn’t do anything any game, but is cool, isn’t it? Seriously, I’d replace it for Cult Master most likely.

Also I’ve tried the control Warlock version that we talked about on Skype. It didn’t seem great to me, feels really weak to Handlock and nothing special against Patron. Very consistent against aggro though.

What are the common decks you have been facing during your games?

Hearthstone Deck Tracker tells me in the last 2-3 days (from rank 4 on) I’ve faced:

25 Warrior – ~60% Patron, 40% Control

21 Warlock – 60% Zoo, 40% Handlock/Dragonlock

17 Mage – almost always Tempo Mage

14 Druid, 14 Hunter (~65% midrange), 12 Paladin (Mainly Aggro), 8 Rogue, 4 Priest, 2 Shaman

What deck would you recommend climbing the ladder with?

I’m of the opinion that any known competitive deck is good to climb when played well. That said, Patron Warrior is the nuts but hard to master. Otherwise, Midrange Hunter, any type of Warlock or Control Warrior are all strong choices.

This type of Grinder Mage is quite decent, may need some tweak though. Not especially hard to play but can be also fun: http://imgur.com/Z0bz2Iy

At this point of the July season, what have you been using to climb the ladder with?

As DH gets closer and closer, I am trying to get an idea of what decks to bring to the tournament. Basically I’ve been using ladder as the training ground. I have been experimenting with different builds but the most sucessful and most played have been:

After realising the fact that the combo was basically a set back in a lot of match ups I decided to give a try to the Control Demonlock that had reached 1 previously that week under the premise that the deck showed good win rates against Warrior other control Warlocks and decent against Hunter and Rogue.

After a little more than 20 games, I have to say that this deck is pretty much a strictly better version of Malygos Warlock(i think maybeMalygos could be favouredMalygos against but I only encountered 1 and I beat him easily. Also this deck is much more unknown for people they play against it without certainty of what to expect (I played against Lifecoach playing Patron yesterday, he didn’t know what to expect at all, making his choices harder). After the end of yesterday, I was intrigued about the fact that I was drawing bad but still winning. Today morning, I continued playing on stream and I reached rank 5 Legend while still making small misplays and learning match ups on the fly.I encourage everybody to try the deck and give his impressions it definitely seems tier 1(It can struggle against Aggro). The only change I made to the deck was cutting MCT for Slyvanas. http://gyazo.com/ee819f14a377e79404d7576732edadb0

What are the common decks you have been facing during your games?

Mainly Warrior and Warlock. Also pretty common mage and Druid and Hunter. Then Paladin and Rogue. As the less common classes Shaman and Priest (met a guy that reached Rank 2 Legend with a shaman deck with Pagle, Nerubian Egg and Bloodlust).

What deck would you recommend climbing the ladder with?

Patron Warrior is the best around in my opinion. If you cant play it, then try Demon Warlock Control.

Koroneko

At this point of the July season, what have you been using to climb the ladder with?

My decklist

What are the common decks you have been facing during your games?

A lot of Patron Warrior and Tempo Mage.

What deck would you recommend climbing the ladder with?

Hybrid Hunter and Patron Warrior
