Introduction
Hi! I’m Asmodeus, multiple times Legend and infinite arena player. I’m also the author of The Complete Guide for Hearthstone Player. This is the first part of my  Heroic League of Explorers guide. Below you will find videos, decklists and strategies to defeat every encounter in the first wing of LoE adventure. Most of these decks are just examples, as there are many ways to defeat some of the bosses. You can copy them and replicate the way I beat each boss in the videos or just use the general strategy and guidelines to build your own deck and defeat the heroic mode.
The first wing – Temple of Orsis features three encounters. Zinaar, Sun Raider Phaerix and the Temple Escape. Beating all of them in normal mode is often doable with just regular deck but you can also use the strategies intended for heroic mode.
If you want to quickly find a solution for another wing of the adventure, the links below will lead you to the other parts of heroic LoE guide:

Zinaar

The sure way method to defeat Zinaar is to simply let the boss kill himself. At the start of each turn Zinaar will draw a card and then use his hero ability to draw another one as well as grant you a zero mana wish spell. This way he will approach fatigue damage much earlier than you, and all you have to do is simply survive and keep clearing the board.
You can use a tempo mage deck that will abuse the ability to cast cheap spells but it’s not necessary. The boss can be defeated using just a simple basic deck which is able to control the board early. For the purpose of this guide I’ve chosen a basic druid deck just to show how it can be done.
Sun Raider Phaerix

Phaerix is a slightly tougher boss but the priest class is very well suited to deal with him. Try to mulligan for shadow-word-pain at the beginning, so that you can take care of his rod quickly. To increase the chances of drawing divine-spirit + inner-fire combo, try to incorporate other cards that let you draw, such as loot-hoarder. The fight will require few attempts with this method but once you get the right cards it will be very easy to destroy the Sun Raider.
You can replace the basic cards with better alternatives but as you can see in the video, nothing beyond the inner-fire is required to beat the boss.
Temple Escape
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6H1UjHYksg
Temple Escape is a very cool encounter that expands the borders of gameplay and shows some new capabilities of Hearthstone as a game. Freeze mechanics, such as frost-nova and taunts which require multiple attacks to get through, like the mirror-image are a great way to tackle this fight. The big-game-hunter is completely optional and you don’t need it to beat this encounter. A simple taunt or a water-elemental to freeze a minion will be a fine replacement. You can also use the ice-block to buy yourself a turn or two. This is just an example of what you can use to finish the Temple Escape easily.
During the encounter you will be asked to make several choices, here is what I recommend:
- Take 5 damage.
- Gain a Mana Crystal
- Draw 2 cards. (after enemy’s next turn, the tunnel will collapse killing all minions)
- Get 1 turn closer to the exit! Encounter a 7/7 Â War Golem.
This way you will have enough mana and cards to stall the game long enough for you to escape the Temple of Orsis.
Final words
Defeating all of the bosses on heroic mode will reward you with a unique card back, but it’s worth doing it just for the challenge it offers. Good luck defeating the bosses and make sure to check back next week for Heroic Uldaman wing guide.
