KFT Keleseth Handbuff Paladin Guide

This article is over 7 years old and may contain outdated information

Knights of the Frozen Throne brought some great cards for Paladin and Paladin is one of the few classes that can make Prince Keleseth work because of their non-reliance on 2 drops to build a deck. With the addition of early game minions like Righteous Protector and powerful tools like Corpsetaker, the deck is much more refined than what could be worked around with at launch of Means Streets of Gadgetzan. That being said, this deck is aimed at aggro decks and you will need to make several tweaks and be more greedy with the decklist if you face decks like Highlander Priest or Control Paladin more than usual. This particular deck is by Brian Kibler and he found decent amounts of success with the list on ladder.

Card Choices

Righteous Protector: Even if you do not get very early draws on one of your hand buff cards, Righteous Protector can prevent a lot of face damage against aggressive decks very early in the game due to its annoying Divine Shield and Taunt effects for just 1 mana.

smugglers-run: Smuggler’s Run allows you to get a bunch of stats added to your minions in hand and buff up your subsequent plays to pressure your opponent.

Aldor Peacekeeper: A highly effective minion to shut down big threats and makes it difficult for your opponent to get value out of his big threats.

Rallying Blade: The deck runs a decent number of divine shield minions to squeeze out value out of the card. Even without the Battlecry effect, the weapon is decent enough to be played as a 3 mana 3/2 as it helps you control the early game threats from your opponent effectively.

Wickerflame Burnbristle: It is a resilient and high value early drop that can prevent face damage and also heal you up a decent amount. It is also a very good buff target as the value of the minion increases significantly if you manage to buff the minion up to at least a 4/4.

Chillblade Champion: It is a very good card in hand buff decks as it can heal you up instantly while also taking out enemy minions or pushing face damage to pressure your opponent.

Grimestreet Enforcer: The sheer presence of the card is enough for your opponent to use up his hard removal for this minion. You ideally want to put the minion behind a taunt to increase odds of successfully getting multiple turns of value out of the card.

Spikeridged Steed: Spikeridged Steed is one of the strongest buff cards in the game and it can be very annoying to get past if you land it on even small minions like Righteous Protector.

Sunkeeper Tarim: Sunkeeper Tarim can allow you to shut down big plays that your opponents make or simply buff up your own board and push for damage. It is a highly flexible minion that can save you when you’re behind or put you even further on-board presence.

Tirion Fordring: Tirion is one of the strongest legendaries in the game and is arguably the strongest class legendary there is from the Classic set. It is very resilient and even if he is killed you get access to a 5/3 weapon that can take out multiple big threats or simply can be used to close out the game.

[card]Prince Keleseth: Prince Keleseth is an amped up version of Smuggler’s Run and it buffs your entire deck if you have no 2 cost cards. You ideally want to get it as early as possible to get the most out of it.

Tar Creeper: Tar Creeper is a very powerful minion to play on turn 3 to counter aggressive decks and it is quite hard to be dealt with by 1 and 2 drops that most people run.

Stonehill Defender: With 3 Paladin legendaries being Taunt minions it is highly likely you draw additional legendaries off of Stonehill Defender due to the class card bonus to Discover effects.

Corpsetaker: Corpsetaker gets a lot of value in the deck as you have Divine Shield, Taunt and Lifesteal minions to get amazing value out of the card. The only effect you miss out on is Windfury, which doesn’t add much to a defensive minion in the first place.

Spellbreaker: Spellbreaker is a tech card inclusion and can be replaced with anything else you might want to include. Kibler included the deck to deal with the massive amount of Murloc Paladin decks floating around.

Bonemare: Bonemare is a powerful minion that is seeing play in a wide variety of decks and it is a powerful tool in Paladin as you always have your hero power at your disposable to find a target for Bonemare.

The Lich King: The Lich King is a very powerful taunt minion that is very hard to deal with without hard removal and with added buffs it can stick around and offer multiple turns of value.

Hope you guys have fun with the deck and be sure to let us know how the deck works for you in the comments below. It is a nice mid range deck that has powerful anti-aggro tools and also enough value legendaries to win in the lategame grind.
