Introduction
Hello everyone and welcome to the new installment of the Hearthstone Quiz. I have dropped them a long time ago, because I’ve focused on different things instead, but I’ve been asked every now and then if we’re going to bring it back. So I’ve figured out that it might be the best time to do so – Gadgetzan is an expansion with a lot of new interactions, a lot of them are still fresh, so the questions might be most interesting this way.
The quiz – just like last time – will be divided into 3 difficulty categories. Easy, medium and hard. If you want to, you can keep track of your score – Easy questions are worth 1 point each, medium questions 2 and hard questions 3. Which means that you can get up to 3 + 6 + 9 = 18 points in total. Let’s start!
Difficulty: Easy
Question #1 –Â Can you discover Kabal Courier from Kabal Courier?
Yes, you can! Since tri-class cards are treated as class cards when it comes to Discover, you can discover them like any other class card. Actually, the tri-class Kabal cards – Kabal Courier, Kabal Chemist and Kazakus have 3 times higher chance to get discovered than any other class card of Mage/Priest/Warlock. That’s because they are counted for the discover pool of each class.

Question #2 – If you have Brann Bronzebeard on the board and you play a minion with Battlecry, does Blubber Baron gain +1/+1 or +2/+2?Â
It only gains +1/+1. Blubber Baron gets buffed for each instance of a Battlecry minions summoned on your side of the board, NOT for the each time a Battlecry procs. The Battlecry doesn’t even have to proc, actually – if your opponent plays a Dirty Rat and pulls one of your Battlecry minions on the board, Blubber Baron will still get +1/+1.
Question #3 – Does the Jade Golem (token) played from your hand buff the next Jade Golem you will summon?
No, it won’t. Only the Jade Golems summoned through the effects that state “Summon X/X Jade Golem” will buff the next one. If a Rogue Saps your 10/10 Jade Golem, it’s just a vanilla 10/10 for 10 that does nothing besides that.
Difficulty: Medium
Question #4 – What happens when you use Hozen Healer on a minion while having Auchenai Soulpriest on the board?
If you’ve answered “the minion dies” or something along those lines, you’re wrong! The combo doesn’t kill a minion. It deals the minion’s max health as damage to that minion. Which usually means the minion’s death, but not necessarily. If the minion you target has Divine Shield or is Immune, it won’t die.
Question #5 – When you bounce one of the Doppelgangster‘s tokens back to your hand, what happens when you replay it?
Most tokens in the game are vanilla. For example – if you play Pantry Spider, the token you summon will be just a vanilla 1/3. However, in case of Doppelgangster, each of the tokens keep the main card’s Battlecry. So if you Shadowstep one of the tokens, it keeps the same Battlecry as the main card. If you replay it, it will summon two more copies of itself.
On top of that, tokens have different artwork than the original. If you summon original, you get 2 cards with token artwork. But if you play the token, you summon 1 other card with token artwork and one card with original artwork! We didn’t have such interaction in the game before Doppelgangster.

Question #6Â –Â Can Fight Promoter‘s effect proc if you have no other minions on the board?
Yes, it can. But only if you buff your Fight Promoter to 6+ health while it’s in your hand. So if you play a Shaky Zipgunner and it’s deathrattle hits the Fight Promoter, you can play it on the empty board and it will still draw 2 cards.

Difficulty: Hard
Question #7 – What happens when you have only 1 card left in your deck, 1 card left in your hand and you attack with Genzo, the Shark?
The card is new, but the interaction isn’t. The card’s drawing mechanic works in the same way that Jeeves did.
Whenever you attack with Genzo the Shark, it checks how many cards you have in your hand (everything is mirrored for the other player). If you have 3 or more cards, it does nothing. If you have between 0 and 2 cards, it now tries to draw up to 3. So if you have 0 cards in your hand, it will always attempt to draw 3 more. If you have 2 cards in your hand, it will always try to draw 1 extra card.
So if you have only 1 card left in your hand, it will attempt to draw 2 more cards. His effect just becomes “draw 2 cards” once it checks that you have 1 in your hand. Since you have only 1 card left in your deck, Genzo will draw that card + since you don’t have any more cards and you still have one draw to go, you will take fatigue damage (most likely 1). So the final outcome of this situation would be you drawing the last card in your deck and then taking one tick of fatigue.

Question #8 –Â Are the deaths resolved between two Kazakus‘ Potion effects?
Whole potion is considered a one, big spell, not two smaller spells casted back to back. It means that the whole potion’s effect resolves first, and only then the game checks for deaths etc. It’s really crucial in a lot of cases. For example, if you pick a 5 damage + summon a 5/5 Potion and target Sylvanas Windrunner with it, even though the 5 damage goes in first, the 5/5 Demon will be summoned BEFORE Sylvanas’ death is resolved, thus the demon will be stolen. It’s also important for the AoE Damage + health buff potion. Since deaths aren’t resolved mid-spell, if you hit your minions with 6 AoE damage and THEN give them +6 health, they will still survive at the same health they were before (however, their max health will increase by 6).
So the answer is no, deaths don’t resolve between two Potion effects.
Question #9 – What happens when you target a 5/1 Daring Reporter with Mortal Coil? 1 damage Wrath? Shiv?
In case of both Mortal Coil and Shiv, the minion will just die and you will draw a card. However, despite Wrath’s similar wording, the card draw part occurs first, before dealing damage. Since you draw the card first and only then you deal damage, the Daring Reporter will first go up to 6/2 and then you will deal 1 damage, resulting in a 6/1 Daring Reporter on the board.
