Is this the next Hearthstone class?

Blizzard’s annual convention, BlizzCon, runs this weekend, but that doesn’t mean we have to wait to find out what its announcements are going to be. And for fans of the popular digital card game, Hearthstone, one leaked image hints of a huge change for the game: a new class.

Reddit detectives have been hard at work, compiling images and code from the game to find out what’s coming down the pipeline. One user noted that in one of the game’s files there’s a reference to “Cavaliere della Morte,” which is Italian for Death Knight.

Details about the hero are still unknown, though if true the class is bound to use up some of the hundred new cards coming to the game in its next expansion. Users noted that the class ability in the leaked image uses the same art as the Corpse Explosion card from the World of Warcraft Trading Card Game, the predecessor to Hearthstone. In that game, “Corpse Explosion” is a card used by the Death Knight class. It’s also an ability for the Death Knight class in World of Warcraft.

Whether true or not, one thing is clear—anticipation for the next step for one of the most popular esports titles of the year is at its peak as we head into BlizzCon.
