Following Chicago, the top 5 seeded teams stuck together, with Str8 Rippin retaining a roster for the first time in the 2007 season. The biggest shakeup in the top 8 was Nice Like Rice releasing Foulacy and Rayto acquire Bonfire from XiT Woundz and Slim from FBI ICON. Ray in turn replaced Slim on ICON. XiT Woundz, now without founding member Bonfire and longtime member KillerN, who opted to sit out the remainder of the season, looked to improve with the acquisition of Soviet from Perfect Storm and newcomer Apex. Perfect Storm, struggling since the loss of high profile slaying duo Naded and Legit, made big moves, replacing Soviet and team founder Ramby with Smoltz from Perfect Balance and Foulacy. This reunited Foulacy with Fonzi for the first time since Vegas 2006. Another struggling team, LeGendZ, with no top-8 finishes in the season so far, opted to make big changes as well, replacing Vash and Cpt Anarchy with Darkfury and PistoL. Cpt Anarchy ended up on Type-Z, while Vash reunited with longtime teammate Mack on Perfect Balance.
Almost surprisingly, no upsets occurred in the opening rounds, meaning the third round featured the top 8 seeds squaring off. Final Boss made short work of ICON, while Carbon did the same to PainX. Str8 Rippin took a close 3-2 series against 5K, and the first big shocker of the tournament occurred when Nice Like Rice 3-0'd FBI The Agency. The upsets didn't stop there. In the following round, Str8 Rippin knocked Final Boss to the Losers' Bracket in a 3-1 series, while Nice Like Rice continued their run, taking out Carbon 3-1. In the Losers' Bracket, the struggling LeGendZ made a run, taking out Gotta Love the Sun and Type-Z before pulling off a big upset on 5K, resulting in their first ever finish outside the money. Another struggling team of the season, XiT Woundz, was making a similar run, taking out Crowd Control, TsK, and ICON. Two former staples of the top 8, now struggling to even make top 8, were now facing eachother for top 6. XiT Woundz ended up taking the series in a 3-0 rout. In the following round, XiT Woundz looked to continue their hot streak against Carbon, and managed to take the series to 5 games before they were defeated. On the other side of the bracket, the Agency looked to rebound from their surprising loss to Nice Like Rice. They took out Active Rush and Perfect Storm, but had the unfortunate circumstance of facing Final Boss in the next round. FB took the series 3-1 before sweeping Carbon out of the tournament. In an unconventional Winners' Finals matchup, Str8 Rippin mowed through Nice Like Rice, defeating them 3-0 and looking to win their first tournament since Philadelphia 2005, holding series advantages against both remaining teams in the tournament. Final Boss made short work of Nice Like Rice and met Str8 in the finals for a rematch, but were unable to get much going, ultimately losing 6-2.
