The regular season had come to an end. Seven teams had earned entry into the Las Vegas National Championships, and there was only one spot available, which every team on the circuit would be fighting for. Teams looking to earn the spot included Vanity Gaming - the team that had placed 5th in Orlando, but not enough to steal the 7th seed from ShooK On3 Gaming, FBI GamerGraffix.com - the team formerly known as Michigan, which had upset teams such as Carbonover the course of the season and seemed ready to break into the top 8, and MoB GamerGraffix.com - the team formerly known as Triggers Down, which had been riding on the edge of top 8 since its inception.
The first portion of the event was the Open Bracket, which featured 104 teams fighting for a single spot in the next round. After many grueling rounds, Type-Zmade it out as the team that would advance. Up next was Championship Bracket Level 1, a battle between the teams ranked 8-14, along with the winner of the Open Bracket. In the WB Semifinals, FBI GamerGraffix.com went up against MoB GamerGraffix.com, and it was the FBI squad that would take the series. FBI moved onto the WB Finals, where they defeated Vanity Gaming. In the LB Finals, Vanity took out MoB once and for all, ending their season, and secured a rematch with FBI, but could not get anything going, losing 6-1. FBI had secured the final spot in the National Championships, as well as the Championship Bracket Level 2.
In the first round of Level 2, things got heated quickly, as Str8 Rippin were swiftly 3-0'd by Storm Ventures. In a close match, LeGendZ narrowly bested XiT Woundz 3-2 to move on to the next round. Final Boss and Carbon predictably destroyed their opponents - FBI GamerGraffix and ShooK On3 Gaming. In the second round, the top 2 domination continued, as FB and Carbon swept LeGendZ and Storm Ventures, respectively. In the Losers' Bracket, XiT Woundz ended FBI GamerGraffix's night, while Str8 Rippin took out ShooK On3 Gaming. XiT Woundz then defeated Storm Ventures in a close 3-2 match, while Str8 Rippin mowed through LeGendZ. In the following round, Str8 took it to XiT Woundz, defeating them 3-0 and ending their night with a 4th place finish. Back in the Winners' Bracket, Final Boss and Carbon met up for the first time since Carbon defeated them in Orlando. This time, FB took revenge, winning the series 3-1 and knocking Carbon into Losers. Carbon made short work of Str8 Rippin and entered the Grand Finals, where Final Boss was waiting with a 3-1 advantage. Despite this, Carbon fought back, taking the series in 11 games and, for the first time ever, handing Final Boss their second straight tournament loss.
On the FFA side of things, it was GI FactoR from team PainX who made it out of the Open Bracket. Though he pulled off the upset on OGRE1 in Championship Level 1, he was soon eliminated after losing to KillerN and gh057ayame. KillerN would be the player to make it out of Level 1, defeating Hali in the final, and earn himself a spot in the National Championships. In Level 2, it was back to the usual, as Karma captured his unprecedented seventh straight MLG FFA Championship, defeating StrongSide in the finals and going into the National Championship undefeated in the 2006 season.
