VwS returned to the competitive Halo scene after a long break on October 11, 2016, when they acquired Fall Pro League team XMEN. The roster consisted of Andrew "Ramirez" Corrigan, Jake "Chalkie" White, Dave "Anima" Gross and Casey "Lunny" Lunn. After one week of matches with the former XMEN roster, VwS released Anima and brought in the veteran Max "Riotz" Cottle as his replacement. VwS finished the season in 5th place with a 3-7 record, placing themselves against potential Relegation. In the Relegation tournament, VwS were upset early in a 7-game series against Egoed, putting themselves one loss away from being relegated to the Open Circuit. Ramirez controversially forfeited during Game 7 due to the large lead Egoed had accumulated. They defeated Prophecy 4-1 to earn a rematch against Egoed, who they then defeated 4-3 to save their berth in the Pro League.
