Biography

On February 14th, Splyce made its entry into the Halo scene, acquiring the Inconceivable roster of Jesse "bubu dubu" Moeller, Ryan "Shooter" Sondhi, Michael "Falcated" Garcia and Anthony "Shotzzy" Cuevas-Castro, alongside coach Phillip "Coach PhiL" Jones. Going into ME Las Vegas 2017, Splyce were favorites to place at least top 6 and earn a spot at Halo World Championship 2017. Despite not holding a pro seed, Splyce were awarded the 8th seed in the Championship Bracket and allowed to bypass the Open Bracket as a result of their performance in the online qualifiers. Splyce made a statement in its opening match, 3-0ing Team Allegiance, but in the following round, they took a humbling 4-0 loss from OpTic Gaming. In their first Losers Bracket match, Splyce defeated Evil Geniuses 4-1 to clinch top 8, but were unable to defeat the 5th seeded Luminosity Gaming in the following round, taking a 4-1 loss and missing out on Worlds qualification. As if to rub salt in the wound, Pnda Gaming, whose roster had essentially stolen a pro seed from Splyce, were able to qualify for Worlds after beating the 9th seeded Allegiance. The following week, Splyce had its final chance to qualify in the Last Chance Qualifier. Despite being the community and analyst favorites, things looked grim to start, as they were ousted from the Winners Bracket early by Team CryptiK. They were then taken to the limit by the 9th seeded Second Nature, barely taking a game 7 victory. After this brush with elimination, Splyce entered another gear, taking out 3sUP 4-1 followed by a 4-2 victory over Team Allegiance. In the Losers Finals, Splyce narrowly defeated Evil Geniuses 4-3, earning a rematch with Team CryptiK in the Grand Finals. Splyce were able to win two straight best-of-7s (4-1 and 4-2) to overcome the odds and qualify for Worlds. At Worlds, Splyce were placed in a pool with Team EnVyUs and Team Immunity. Splyce pulled off an early upset when they defeated Team EnVyUs 3-1 in the opening match of the night and went on to win the pool. In the bracket, Splyce were taken out early in a 4-3 loss to Luminosity Gaming. They then swept SoaR Gaming and defeated FAB Games eSports 4-1 before losing a close 4-3 match to Str8 Rippin and going home with a top 6 finish.

Following Worlds, Splyce made a roster change, releasing Falcated and replacing him with Str8 Rippin star Jonathan "Renegade" Willette. With Renegade on board, Splyce won the Daytona Placement Cup, earning a spot in the Group Stage of the event. In Daytona, Splyce finished 2nd in its pool, notably trading wins with Team Liquid. They narrowly avoided an upset in a 3-2 victory over Lethal Gaming in Winners Round 1 before being knocked out by Team Liquid (in their third match of the tournament) in the second round. After eliminating Wise Gaming, Luminosity Gaming and Oxygen Supremacy, Splyce met Liquid once again in the Losers Semifinals and lost a grueling 4-3 series to take 4th place. The following week, Splyce successfully qualified for the Summer Pro League with a 1st place finish in the Last Chance Qualifier.
