343 Industries has revealed that the pros are not the only ones who are going to be competing this weekend at the HCS North American Pro League Finals. Attendees of the event that purchase a VIP pass, which will set you back about $60, will be able to take part in a free-for-all tournament with a prize pool of $5,000, as well as several other prizes, such as Astro Gaming headsets.

Check in for the tournament will begin on Saturday, July 30 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Players must check in if they wish to participate. The tournament itself will then run from 12:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. that night.

Every match will take place on either Truth or Regret, both maps styled after the classic Midship from Halo 2. The tournament will use the typical loadout of an Assault Rifle and Magnum. Each heat will consist of six players and will use a scoring system to determine who will advance, with a time limit of eight minutes on each game. The scoring system is as follows:

  • 1st - Six points
  • 2nd - Five points
  • 3rd - Four points
  • 4th - Three points
  • 5th - Two points
  • 6th - One point

Whoever has the most points at the end of a round (consisting of two heats) will move forward.

First place overall at the event will receive $3,000 and a Gaems Monitor. Second place will go home with $1,500 and an Astro Gaming A40 headset. Third place will get $500, as well as another Astro Gaming A40 headset. Finally, all those who finish from fourth to sixth will be lucky enough to receive their own Astro Gaming A40 headsets.

A VIP pass will also entitle the holder to several other privileges. When the real event starts, they will have access to the best seats with the best view of the stage, as well as access to a private VIP area. They will also go home with five Gold REQ packs for use in game.

Good luck to any fans who will be participating, and get ready for a weekend full of action-packed Halo.
