Warzone Warlords returns to Halo 5 next week

The popular playlist will be back on April 14.

Warzone, a matchmaking category in Halo 5 that allows teams of 12 to compete against each other on a large-scale battleground, is getting an addition to its playlist—Warlords is returning on April 14.

Warzone Warlords, a team-focused version of Halo 5’s Warzone, features the relentless spartan action from traditional Warzone, except the playlist allows teams of six or twelve players to find games. By limiting the games to those who are in a group, Warlords makes the games more competitive—as these teams may possess more chemistry compared to a randomized lineup.

Although multiple twists were created for the gamemode soon after its launch on Oct. 27, 2015, the traditional rules call for teams to control “territories” within the map, eventually reaching the “core” of the opponent’s base. When a team reaches the enemy core, they must destroy it to win.

Another way to win the game is to score more points than your opponent over the duration of the game’s time. But many players think that destroying the core is a more satisfying way to win, as it provides more excitement.

Hopefully fans will appreciate the Warlord playlist just as much as they did upon its initial release two years ago.
