Halo's Championship Sunday Recap
To start off the day we saw Cloud 9 take on team Velocity which ended up being a rather close 3-0 for C9. They were able to edge out the first Warlord bomb 2-1 and the Shrine Team Slayer 50-47, then cruised to a 162-79 Lockdown Hill win to finish the series.
Next up on the stream we saw CLG vs OpTic Halo. First map was a nail biter, with OpTic taking the Warlord CTF 5-4, which gave them the hype and momentum to then close out the next two games and take the series 3-0.
Once again, we saw a close Warlord Flag between Denial and Evil Geniuses, and in the end, EG was able to fend off the comeback to take the game 4-3. In similar style, EG was then able to use that momentum to take game 2, but in game 3 we saw Denial fight back to take Lockdown Hill. Sadly for Denial fans, EG was able to close it out in game 4, sending Denial into a losers bracket matchup against Cloud 9.
With their tournament lives on the line, this Denial vs Cloud 9 series meant a lot to both teams.. Cloud 9 was able to take the series 3-1, eliminating Denial from the tournament. With their Victory, the top 4 was set. On the winners side, OpTic vs EG, and on the losers side, CLG vs C9.
In Losers Semis, C9 was able to jump out to a 2-0 series lead, but with game 3 and 4 both taking place on Warlord (CLG's best map) CLG was able to even up the series, and eventually take a close game 5 on Shrine Team Slayer.
Now Winners Semis was another showing of dominance coming from the EG guys, as they cruised to a 3-0 beating of OpTic Halo, setting up a losers final between CLG and OpTic.
Losers Finals went 3-1 to CLG with them taking game 1 and 2, then dropping a Lockdown Hill, and closing it out on Shrine slayer. With that loss, OpTic was out of the tournament, finishing in 3rd place which is nothing to be disappointed about after having a roster change very recently.
Grand Finals stage was set between CLG and EG. EG needed just 3 wins since they came from winners, and CLG needed to take 2 best of 5 sets due to them being from losers.
EG was not going to be stopped this tournament as they cruised to a 3-0 victory, taking home the first title for EG in Halo
