Last month, Major League Gaming announced that they would be hosting an eight team Call of Duty: Ghosts tournament at an ESPN X-Games competition in Austin. Competitors would vie for real X Games medals, and highlights of the matches would broadcast on ESPN itself. Now, we finally know which teams will attend the event in June.

Evil Geniuses, Team EnVyUS, and OpTic Gaming earned their spots from placing in the top three in Activision’s Call of Duty Championship earlier this year. The other five were invited thanks to their MLG Pro Point standings, which are determined by results from MLG Pro Circuit events, online tournaments, and online ladders.

The X Games Invitational spurred a flurry of activity in the competitive Call of Duty community following its original announcement. On May 6, Evil Geniuses bought out the contracts of CompLexity, the winners of Activision’s Call of Duty Championships, for what the Evil Geniuses CEO described as, “the largest esports contract buyout I’ve heard of.” The X-Games event will be the team’s first chance, under its new owners,to flex its muscles in an offline tournament.

The X Games Invitational will begin with two, four-team double elimination groups. After group play the top two teams from each group will proceed to the semifinals bracket. Losers of the first semifinals match will go on to play for the X Games bronze medal while the winners will go on to play for gold and silver.

A ticket for the Austin event runs for $89, and gets you access to both the MLG and action sports portions of the event. VIP access to the MLG event will cost another $100. The upgrade will buy you reserved seating in the MLG tent, tours, and the opportunity to meet the Call of Duty: Ghost pro players.

ESPN and ABC will run highlights from the tournament. The event in its whole can also be watched on MLG’s streaming platform, MLG.tv.
