World of Warcraft esports will expand to include dungeons for the very first time later this month, thanks to a major new Blizzard-run tournament.

Mythic Dungeons are being thrust into the competitive world of esports with the Mythic Dungeon Invitational, according to Blizzard's official announcement yesterday. Dungeon diving teams from around the world will go head to head to prove that they're the best Mythic dungeoneers in the world—and for a share of the $100,000 prize pool.

Mythic dungeons are level dungeons that parties of five players must complete within an allotted time limit. For most players, Mythics offer loot and keys used to unlock more challenging levels. Higher level Mythics offer greater chances for better loot, and some players just want their keys upgraded so they can climb as high as they possibly can on the Mythic ladder. In this tournament, however, there's a ton of money on the line.

The tournament will feature eight of the best teams from each participating region—the Americas, Europe, China, and Asia-Pacific. These 32 teams will compete in a bracket, and must defeat their opponents by completing their assigned Mythic Dungeon more efficiently. Each region's top two teams will face off on the global stage against one another. Both the 32 team bracket and the final eight will be streamed on World of Warcraft's Twitch channel.

Think your squad has what it takes to compete? You can try out in the Proving Grounds—the preliminaries for the final event. From July 25 to August 8, all wishing to participate must climb as high as they possibly can to put up their best numbers on the Mythic ladder.

At the end of the two weeks, each team can fill out this form to apply for an invitation to the final 32. After the applications are considered and the 32 teams have been decided, the tournament will be scheduled.
