Blizzard has announced World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, the latest expansion for the popular MMORPG.

This will mark the seventh complete expansion pack for World of Warcraft, which will implement new zones, level cap increases, and a look at the ongoing conflict between the game's two divisive factions: Alliance and Horde.

Horde players will be able to travel to three new zones that comprise the islands of Zandalar and Alliance players will get their own three zones set within Kul Tiras. All factions will work together within the confines of these new zones to recruit additional "allied races." Later, those new races will become playable characters.

There's also a new "islands" system in Battle for Azeroth, where players can work in trios to explore certain areas where special enemies and missions change as the game wears on. In addition to that, new "warfront" groups will find 20 players joining up to battle for control of areas integral to both Alliance and Horde players' group success.

In terms of equipment, there's a new legendary piece of armor called the Heart of Azeroth that will be available, which will allow players to unlock special powers in a manner similar to the artifact system previously seen in the most recent expansion before Battle for Azeroth, World of Warcraft: Legion

The level cap will be pushed to 120 this time around, with the same kind of level boost that's been available in the past, so new players can shoot to level 110 in an effort to jump right into the fight.

The previous expansion, World of Warcraft: Legion, was released back in 2016, while World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor made its debut three years ago in November 2014. Both brought a wealth of content to the MMORPG, complete with important additions to the lore, level cap increases, and plenty of reasons for players to jump back into the game after extended absences.

Blizzard hasn't yet announced when we'll be able to expect Battle for Azeroth, but it's about time for a new expansion to roll around, especially since the previous release dropped last August. There will likely be news of an official date in the next few months, so you've got some time to start playing through the previous expansions if you want to level organically.
