This buzzer-beater might make you fall in love with Uplink

When Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hit the shelves, the competitive community wasn’t sold on the Uplink game mode. But it just produced one of the most exciting moments in Call of Duty history.

The stage was the UMG Orlando semifinals, the players of two teams of young guns facing off in a bout to decide who would challenge OpTic Gaming in the finals. Stunner Gaming led Denial 2-1, needing the win on Uplink to advance in the tournament.

With one minute left and the score tied at 4-4, it looked like Dillon “Attach” Price made the move that’d give his team the lead.

Until Tommy “TJHaLy” Haly happened.

But that’s not all. Stunner managed to score in the ensuing seconds, giving them a 5-4 lead with the clock ticking down, setting up a stunning finish.

Wow.

Haly nails the buzzer beating hail mary, sending Stunner Gaming to the finals.

The Uplink game mode is well situated to set up thrilling moments. It’s quickly becoming Advanced Warfare’s most exciting respawn game type.

The dynamic where players can “dunk” the ball, scoring two points by moving into the capture zone, or throw the ball to secure a single point, makes for the possibility of exciting and clutch plays, like Haly’s interception and hail mary, or going for a beyond-all-odds dunk and somehow nailing it.

Stunner Gaming’s last-second pass ended the series 3-1 over Denial. That hail mary was worth $2,000 in prize money.
