Be sure to tune into Twitch this weekend as a major charity event will be going on, with some intense Super Smash Bros. competition.
Since there’s so much gaming goodness, there will actually be two streams, one by VG Boot Camp and another by Versus Gaming Center.
Some of the Streamers and Smashers include Cosmo Wright, Mychal “Trihex” Jefferson, Siglemic, Joey “Lucky” Aldama, Weston “Westballz” Dennis, and Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada. A full schedule can be found here.
Much like Awesome Games Done Quick, Smash the Record is a similar type of charity drive in which top players marathon games while trying to bolster charity donations. This year, Smash the Record is hoping to raise $50,000 for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Unlike AGDQ, Smash the Record also hosts a Super Smash Bros. tournament.
If certain donation goals are met during the charity drive, gamers will remix the way they play for audience amusement. For example, if $15,000 is met, eight players will battle it out in Smash while wearing oven mitts. There will also be prizes for donors. For those who throw in $10, they will be eligible to win a Twitch hoodie, or $100 gets donors into a raffle to win a Wii U with Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and four controllers.
