Player-versus-player battling coming to Pokémon GO
Player-versus-player battling is still coming to Pokémon GO.
There’s never a dull moment if you’re fan of Niantic’s mobile phenomenon. Recent upgrades to the game (dubbed gen 2) have improved the game's overall structure and mechanics. There's still a feature that gamers are itching to get their hands on, however. And according to Tsunekazu Ishihara, owner of The Pokemon Company, it's on the way. You'll soon be able to battle friends in Pokémon Go.
Speaking to Bloomberg on the future of Pokémon, Ishihara said that Niantic and Pokemon have “only accomplished 10 percent” of what they intend to do during the partnership. “Going forward we will have to include fundamental Pokémon experiences such as Pokémon trading and peer-to-peer battles, and other possibilities.”
If there’s one key feature to lure ex Pokémon Go players back to join 65 million other players, then it is the ability to battle other players. The inability to battle Pokemon is like having Hall without Oates—the product just feels incomplete. Fingers crossed the feature is higher up on the development list now that the game is more stable and the raids have been reworked.
