Obsidian teases new game on Twitter
Over the past 10 years, Obsidian Entertainment has launched some of the best RPGs in gaming history. From Fallout: New Vegas to Pillars of Eternity to South Park: The Stick of Truth, the development studio knows how to create interesting games that merge captivating storytelling and gameplay into a critically acclaimed hit. And now, Obsidian may have a new game coming.
In a tweet posted late last night, Obsidian listed its game releases in chronological order from first to last, including the upcoming sequel Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire. And right after Pillars of Eternity 2, Obsidian capped off the tweet with three question marks, implying a hidden title coming up. Check it out below.
Fans quickly began speculating what the company has in store. Some joked that they wanted a sequel to Fallout: New Vegas. Others asked for a new release in the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic series. Either way, Twitter users treated the tweet as a cryptic message, suggesting a new title will soon be announced from Obsidian.
It's hard to say for certain if Obsidian has a new game coming, but it's not unlikely. The studio released multiple games in 2015 and 2016. Meanwhile, 2017 saw a brief lull from any new Obsidian titles, suggesting that the team is working on something big for the long-term.
Granted, that may just be Pillars of Eternity 2. No one knows for certain until Obsidian officially confirms or denies the tweet's message. In the meantime, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is headed to PC, Mac, and Linux sometime in early 2018.
