Rockstar released a new Red Dead Redemption 2 story trailer this morning, showing off what players can expect in terms of story, combat, and the personalities contained within the game.

Previously, Rockstar promised fans more information about the highly-anticipated sequel this summer. It made good on that promise today by debuting a great-looking clip that gives us a little more to go on in terms of narrative. And it's a lot more substantial in terms of content than we got with the first trailer and screenshots that were circulating this past May.

This time around, protagonist Arthur Morgan takes center stage, traveling with the Van der Linde gang as they "rob, fight and steal their way across the vast and rugged heart of America," according to Rockstar. This is the first chunk of real, substantial footage we've had a chance to dissect since the game was officially announced earlier this year. Crocodiles, bows, and plenty of gritty Western drama are on display, as well as some particularly great-looking footage.

Unfortunately, there was no concrete release date shared in tandem with the trailer debut. Red Dead Redemption 2 is still targeting a Spring 2018 release for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Curiously, there hasn't been any acknowledgement of a possible PC version, but considering the first game never made an appearance there, it's possible this one won't either.

It's going to be a difficult wait until next year's release, but at least there's a lot more to chew on until then.
