On this week’s episode of the Leaderboard, the panel wades into the  League Championship Series playoffs before diving into a potential new exclusive league for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

The LCS playoffs in North America have produced yet another finals matchup between Cloud9 and Team SoloMid. But while the teams are very familiar to fans, that doesn’t mean they’ll be any less excited to see them do battle. TSM has established itself as the class of the Western scene and one of the world’s best in League of Legends, while Cloud9 has seemingly snuck its way into one more finals appearance.

The biggest news of the past week may have been the report that ESL, Twitch and Vulcun had come together with some of the biggest teams in esports to discuss the possibility of creating either an exclusive or semi-exclusive Counter-Strike league. The revelation set off a flurry of negative responses from the community, a response so strong that it may have directly impacted the negotiations. Our hosts debate the viability of such a league and what impact it might have on Counter-Strike and esports as a whole.

Also discussed this week are Twitch’s ongoing attempt to fend off challengers for streaming platform supremacy and the results of the world’s first Mortal Kombat X tournament.
