How to sign up for World of Warcraft Classic beta

Are you feeling nostalgic yet?

World of Warcraft Classic is one of the most highly-anticipated games in years. You might expect plenty of gamers to be looking forward to a souped-up Korean MMORPG with anime visuals and action-packed fighting. But instead, a 14-year-old vintage game is on the agenda.

It’s now available to play for a select few players in the closed beta. There’s no way to guarantee that you’ll get your hands on a key, but if you want a chance at trying out Classic ahead of its release on Aug. 27, there are a few easy steps you can follow.

First, you need a Battle.net account. If you’ve played any Blizzard games recently, you should already have created one. If, however, you’re a first-time player or you’ve been on an extending break from gaming, you can sign up here.

Once you’ve created an account, you’ll need an active WoW subscription to be eligible for the Classic beta. We don’t recommend you subscribe just for the sake of a key, though. The chances you’ll be awarded one are extremely low. But if you’re feeling lucky, you can subscribe by visiting the Blizzard shop.

Next, all you need to do is opt in for beta via Account Management.

You can do this by clicking the link above, scrolling down, and selecting Go to Beta Profile Settings under the Beta Access subcategory.

Once you’re there, click on World of Warcraft Classic, and finally Update Preferences. You’ll now have to play the waiting game.

If you’re selected for the Classic beta, you’ll be notified through the Battle.net client. You’ll never be emailed by Blizzard concerning a beta key. Be careful for scammers.
