You can mine multiple kinds of useful minerals, most of which can be crafted into valuable products for use in other recipes. While Stone can be found throughout the island, all other minerals spawn in particular regions only. If you aren’t sure on how to get Palium Bars in Palia, our guide has everything you need to know.

To start crafting Palium Bars, you need to purchase its recipe from Hodari via the Mining Guild Store. The recipe unlocks at mining level six and costs 500 Gold. With the recipe unlocked, you can place Palium ores in the Smelter to make Palium Bars.

One Palium Bar takes five Palium ores, so make sure you have enough ores to make the amount of bars you need. While you can craft Palium Bars in a Basic Smelter, one bar takes over 11 minutes to make. The time needed drastically reduces with the Heavy Smelter, which unlocks at level five mining.

If you’re used to farming Palium from Bahari Bay from earlier, that’s no longer possible. After the 0.191 update, Palium is now exclusive to the Elderwood region. These glowy ores feature a spawn rate similar to Iron nodes in Bahari Bay, and can be found in almost every highlighted landmark on the Elderwood map, but particularly in:

  2. Red Blossom Cave

Considering the size and intricate geographical features of Elderwood, however, farming Palium ores can be exhausting, especially if you don’t know where these nodes are likely to pop up. But here’s a tip that’ll help you with not just Palium, but every mineral in the game: Ore nodes usually spawn at the edges of cliffs. If you’re still not sure where to look, open the map on your screen and look for greyish highlights, which indicate cliff edges.

We’ve marked the spots where we’ve found multiple Palium nodes in a snapshot of the Elderwood map below. Look around these places too.

If looking for Palium manually seems like a lot of work, we suggest getting the Ore Compass. You can purchase its recipe for 2,500 Gold from Hodari via the Mining Guild Store after reaching mining level eight. When used, the compass marks all Silver, Gold, and Platinum nodes, large-sized Stone, Whitestone, Copper, Iron, and Palium on the map for 15 minutes. It’s an excellent tool for when you need to farm a lot of Palium or other minerals for a recipe or quest.

To mine Palium, you need a Fine Pickaxe or above. You can purchase the recipe for Fine Pickaxe—which takes a Standard Pickaxe, five Iron Bars, and 10 Heartwood Planks—from the Mining Guild Store when you reach mining level six. We suggest working toward getting the Exquisite Pickaxe (level nine mining) as you’ll eventually need it to mine the larger Palium nodes and Platinum in Elderwood.
