GTA Online players wish this immersive feature from older games would come back

Would you like fries with that?

Grand Theft Auto Online is an immensely popular multiplayer focused offshoot of Rockstar’s flagship game series. Released in 2015, just shortly after the launch of Grand Theft Auto 5, GTA Online has maintain an active community for eight years.

GTA Online takes place in the sprawling city of Los Santos and its outside region of Blaine County. Much of the city is accessible, boasting everything from barber shops to weapon stores, though restaurants are all closed off and prohibit player entry.

Restaurants being inaccessible was not always the case, as in previous GTA games including GTA 4 and San Andreas, players were able to enter into fast food chains. Now, iconic GTA restaurants Burger Shot and Cluckin’ Bell had complete interiors where players could hold up cashiers, stage massive gun fights, or simply order a burger.

The exclusion of restaurant interiors in GTA 5 and GTA Online did not go unnoticed by Rockstar’s dedicated player base. Recently, Reddit user SwordfishOK5282 brought back up the topic, stating that “[i]t would be amazing if Rockstar added interiors to Restaurants in Los Santos like Burger Shot and Clucking Bell,” the user wrote. “It will give the game more life and realism.”

As the post quickly took off on the GTA Online subreddit, other avid players agreed with the poster’s sentiment and even suggested practical uses for these currently closed restaurants. “I would love to see improved healing and other temporary buffs tied to food from restaurants,” Lazy-Minotaur suggested. “You enter one of these buildings and order something that gives you a temporary buff.”

Other users remained pessimistic that Rockstar would ever re-implement the beloved detail back into the game. The top commenter, Former-Poem863, believed that Rockstar would instead just refer players back to the company’s previous titles.

Accessible restaurants are far from the first quality-of-life change that GTA Online players have asked for. Though a minor inclusion, many fans are hopeful that one day they could go back to restaurant either in an update or future version of GTA Online.
