The Road to BlizzCon and the first Heroes of the Storm World Championship is well underway, with three North American teams taking first steps towards the tournament. Now the Europeans will have their turn, but a scheduling clash has the teams concerned.
Just like their NA counterparts, European teams will take part in three EU Opens, Blizzard announced yesterday. Winners from these three open tournaments will advance to the European Championships, with two teams then moving on to BlizzCon.
However the third of these open tournaments will conflict with one of the biggest offline events to date, the Masters Gaming Arena 2015 at PAX Prime. Liquid, widely considered Europe’s top team right now, and Virtus Pro have already qualified for the event with one invite spot to be announced. Though there are two other opens, this clash leaves those teams with fewer opportunities to make it to BlizzCon purely because they qualified for a prestigious event.
Víctor Sánchez “FalcoN” López, Liquid’s carry player, tweeted his displeasure at the scheduling problem:
@MarcSOlbertz the last one (the biggest one) coincides with MGA , that sucks a lot. I can’t understand why two big tournaments the same day

Fans and players alike are calling on Blizzard to move the qualifier, as the prospect of some of Europe’s best teams missing out on the first World Championships would be a big blow.
