PC gamers have a bit of a longer wait to play Destiny 2, as the title comes out a month-and-a-half after the console release. But soon, PC players can try out the Destiny 2 beta for themselves.

Before it releases on the PC on Oct. 24, everyone can get a taste of the action during the game's beta test. Here's everything you need to know about Destiny 2's PC beta.

How and when to play

Destiny 2's PC beta goes open on Aug. 29, with a 24 hour early access period starting on Aug. 28 for those who have preordered the game.

Once you have preordered the game, you can download and install it right in the Blizzard app. On Aug. 29, everyone will be able to simply click the install button inside of the app and download it.

If you want to play the beta on Aug. 28, you need to preorder. If you don't, you'll have to wait until Aug. 29.

What you can play in the beta

Destiny 2's PC beta will launch with similar content to the console version, with some slight differences and tweaks.

The PC beta will feature the opening mission of the campaign, titled "Homecoming," a cooperative Strike called "The Inverted Spire," and a few Crucible PvP options.

Two modes have been confirmed thus far for Crucible, Control, and Countdown, and two maps, Midtown and Javelin-4. Control has seen a number of changes since the first Destiny, and Countdown is a brand-new mode where players must plant and defuse charges on objectives.

What specs you'll need to run it

Destiny 2 is a beautiful game, but you do not need a monster rig to run it.

At minimum, to run Destiny 2 on PC, Bungie said you will need either an Intel Core i3-3250 or AMD FX-4350 for your processor, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB or AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB for your graphics card, and six gigabytes of RAM.

The recommended specifications are a bit more demanding. Bungie recommends you play with either an Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X for your CPU, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 390 for your GPU, and eight gigabytes of RAM.
