The biggest team name in American Counter-Strike has decided to part ways with one of their players just a month playing in what may be the year’s most prestigious tournament. Todd “Anger” Williams will no longer play with the team, Complexity has announced.

Complexity struggled through the summer season with disappointing results. The team failed to make the finals of the latest CEVO Professional season and finished fourth in ESEA’s invitational league, where they required a tiebreak to earn a spot at the ESEA finals event in Dallas, Texas.

Rumors swirled about potential changes in the team leading up to the tournament in Dallas. But a surprise run to a second-place finish, which included wins of renowned sides such as Ninjas in Pyjamas, Natus Vincere, and Virtus Pro, seemed to stave off such moves.

But those rumors began kicking up again immediately after the event. And earlier today, a member of the team confirmed to the Daily Dot Williams has been released, effective immediately.

Williams joined Complexity from iBUYPOWER earlier in the year in a swap that saw Braxton “Swag” Pierce make a concurrent move from Complexity to iBUYPOWER. Results since have favored iBUYPOWER, and that trend held true to form when iBUYPOWER defeated Complexity in both the upper bracket finals and grand finals in Dallas.

Rumors have long suggested that Complexity has been pursuing the services of Mike “Shroud” Grzesiak, with more recent rumblings suggesting that he might be followed by his teammate at Manajuma, Derek “Dboorn” Boorn.

Complexity has yet to officialy confirm this transfer, but Complexity’s ESEA team page suggests the deal is already done. The pair have been registered for play with the squad for the upcoming ESEA invitational season.

Complexity star Jordan “n0thing” Gilbert took to Facebook to address the situation, suggesting that while Grzesiak and Boorn had indeed been brought in to play with the team, nothing was yet certain.

The addition of Grzesiak and Boorn would still leave the team with one player too many, and it’s unclear which current player could be axed. One possible candidate is Sean Gares, whose in-game leadership duties were recently taken over by Kory “Semphis” Friesen.
