Cloud9, OpTic Gaming and SK Gaming were among the few North American teams to begin Season 5 with a hot start. On the European side, Team Kinguin and Heroic also began the season undefeated. Heroic showed significant strength in their matches against Ninjas in Pyjamas, which resulted in 16-6 and 16-8 victories on Overpass on Dust II.
