Over the past week, SGDQ 2017 provided 142 fantastic speedruns for fans to watch for many months to come.

Games Done Quick (GDQ) is a speedrunning event that only runs twice a year. Over 100,000 concurrent viewers tune into these marathons and donate millions of dollars to charity. The runners come from all corners of the globe, and it's easily the world’s biggest speedrunning event.

To celebrate the end of another fantastic week, we looked back at all of the speedruns from SGDQ 2017 and picked out some of our favorites.

Italian plumbers, green clad elves, and sci-fi bounty hunters have all come together to create this exciting list of great speedruns.

Super Mario Relay Race

What happens when you put 15 of the best Super Mario speedrunners on teams of three and have them race against each other to complete five Super Mario games before the other? You get this little piece of GDQ gold.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past

Why do you need a sword when you can grab a net instead? Swordless is one of the strangest Zelda speedruns out there, but it doesn't make it any less entertaining to watch. Players are expected to use every item to their disposal to beat the game in an unintended way.

Super Metroid

A classic GDQ speedrun, Super Metroid's multiple categories have been at every consecutive GDQ for awhile now, with the save or kill the animals donation incentives being one of the most highly contested in the entire marathon. This year, kill the animals was victorious.

Final Fantasy VII

As the longest speedrun to grace SGDQ 2017, Final Fantasy VII is a test of mental willpower and endurance. Final Fantasy VII has so many different tricks that force speedrunners to always be on point for hours on end.

Kingdom Hearts II

What happens when you mix speedrunners with Disney songs? You get one of the best speedruns at any GDQ event. Kingdom Hearts speedruns are known for their precision and complexity. When you add great commentary, enthusiasm, and insane challenge, you know you have a winner.

Is there a speedrun you think we missed? Did you miss some of SGDQ 2017's best speedruns? If so, you can find every single speedrun on this helpful database on Reddit.
