How to watch Awesome Games Done Quick 2018
Awesome Games Done Quick is back once again, kicking off the new year with hundreds of speedruns over a seven-day period—all in the name of charity.
Many speedrunners will head to Herndon, Virginia from Jan. 7 to 14 to benefit the Prevent Cancer Foundation, a charity that looks to prevent cancer through early detection and by offering information on how people can look for signs of cancer either in themselves or others.
GDQ has raised well over $10 million since 2011—when the first marathon was held—and broke $2 million at a single event last year for the first time in the organization's history.
The event will be livestreamed on the GDQ Twitch page. Anyone who misses their favorite speedrun over the seven-day period can watch VODs on YouTube shortly after the event. AGDQ 2018 will kick off at 12pm CT on Jan. 7 with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and end at 7am CT on Jan. 14 with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
AGDQ will feature a lot of new speedruns that have never been at a GDQ before, such as Yooka Laylee and Splatoon 2. A few of our favorites this year include Megaman 1 to 3 team relay race, Left 4 Dead four player co-op, Octodad beat the game, Star Fox 2 expert any percent, and Zelda: Link to the Past randomizer race.
Let's not forget that there's a huge Mario block for viewers to look forward to as well during the week-long schedule. Super Mario Odyssey might even make a surprise appearance as a donation incentive if we're lucky.
Speedrun fans are looking forward to another great AGDQ—and it all begins on Jan. 7, 2018.
