Fortnite's new Battle Royale mode has attracted a staggering amount of new players, and with it, several thousands of cheaters, according to Epic Games.

It appears the issue has become the “highest priority” in terms of problems that need to be tackled in-game, as community coordinator Nathan Mooney stated in a recent blog post addressing Fortnite players. It seems Epic Games and its community team are taking the initiative to stop frustrating players who cheat their way to victory.

"We are constantly working against both the cheaters themselves and the cheat providers," Mooney said. "And it's ongoing, we're exploring every measure to ensure these cheaters are removed and stay removed from Fortnite Battle Royale and the Epic ecosystem."

Mooney said that going forward, the team is "exploring every measure" to remove those who rely on unscrupulous methods from the game and keep them out. But the blog post doesn't explicitly say what's being done to get this process rolling, other than mentioning "tools" are actively on their way at the moment, with "thousands banned" and no plans for the company to put the ban hammer away in sight.

The next weeks will see account progression unlocked, which is not only meant as a boon for players, but one sort of measure against "casual cheaters," Mooney said. This implies plenty more bans are coming for those who want to game the system. There are other solutions coming for "persistent trolls," Mooney mentioned near the end of the blog post.

Players are encouraged to continue sending in reports on the scummier players out there who can't be bothered to play fair, so if you're seeing this kind of behavior, make sure you utilize the proper channels for reporting. It's a fight that both players and the developers have to be involved in if this is going to work, after all.
