Planetkey Dyanamics celebrates big ESL win by dropping Troubley
A German Counter-Strike team celebrated a major victory over the weekend in a very peculiar way.
Planetkey Dynamics is parting ways with Tobias “Troubley” Tabbert after triumphing at the ESL Pro Series Germany final.
The team faced stiff competition from tournament favorites Mousesports, who were looking to rebound following a disappointing seventh place finish at the ESEA global final.
The first game of the best-of-three finals series proved to be the closest and most crucial. Playing on Overpass, Planetkey Dynamics were able to emerge from multiple overtime periods to pick up the map. Mousesports would fire back with a win in the second game before Planetkey Dyanamics closed the series with a 16-3 blowout on Mirage.
The finish was a bit of an anticlimax for the tournament, but that hardly compared to what followed.
Just one day after achieving victory in Germany’s biggest domestic Counter-Strike competition, Planetkey Dynamics dropped Tabbert. Planetkey Dyanmics revealed on the team’s official Facebook page that Tabbert had been informed of the decision before even sitting down to play in the final.
The decision was a surprising one. Tabbert had helped lead the team to consecutive ESL Pro Series Germany titles. Each win came over a favored Mousesports squad.
Tabbert played well in the weekend final, and he now stands as likely the hottest free agent in the German scene.
For their part, Planetkey Dynamics have yet to divulge its plans to fill the now-empty roster spot Tabbert’s release has created. And should they fail to win a third straight Pro Series title, fans of the team are sure to look back at this decision with raised eyebrows.
