Epic Games has really been showing off its holiday spirit lately in Fortnite: Battle Royale. On top of map changes and new cosmetic items for the holiday season, the developer started the 14 Days of Fortnite event, which gives players a new holiday-themed challenge each day.
The first few tasks were pretty mundane—but now it seems like Epic’s latest challenges have been inspired by a popular Christmas carol: “The 12 Days of Christmas.”

Obviously, there was no partridge in a pear tree, turtle doves, French hens, or calling birds for the first four days of the Fortnite event. But the last two challenges seem to perfectly align with the well-known Christmas song.
The day five Fortnite challenge asked players to “fly through golden rings in an X-4 Stormwing plane.” Get it? “Five golden rings.” It might not be what the Christmas carol necessarily had in mind, but it’s close enough.
“On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: Six geese a-laying…” And the day six Fortnite challenge requires you to “search waterside goose nests.”

It can’t be a coincidence that these last two challenges reference the popular Christmas carol. But what does this mean for the remaining days in the Fortnite event? Will we be looking for seven swans tomorrow on Christmas day? Will we get to see ladies dancing, pipers piping, and drummers drumming later this week?
And what about the last two days of the Fortnite event? The Christmas carol only goes up to 12, so Epic might need to be even more creative for the day 13 and 14 challenges.
Overall, we think it’s pretty cool that Epic decided to use the Christmas carol for its in-game event—and we can’t wait to see what else the developer has up its sleeve this holiday season.
