The biggest Dota 2 team in the Philippines has unveiled its new roster—and it’s full of mostly familiar faces.
Mineski elected to restructure its roster around Malaysian Dota 2 legend Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung after failing to qualify for the $3 million Kiev Major.
Now, three days after announcing Mushi as the centerpiece, Mineski has revealed who will join him. In total, two new faces will be joining the squad, while the remaining two competed with Mineski in the Kiev Major’s Southeast Asian qualifiers.
The new faces are Malaysian Dota 2 veteran Lee “kYxY” Kong Yang, as well as former Fnatic support Nico “eyyou” Barcelon. Both players have competed with Mushi on various rosters in the past, with kYxY being the most notable due to his success in 2013, when he, together with Mushi reached the semifinals of the International 3 with Orange eSports. Finally, Ryan “Bimbo” Jay Qui will return to the carry role, while long-time support player Michael “ninjaboogie” Ross Jr. will also be reprising his role in the team.
Renowned for his success in teams such as Orange, DK, and Fnatic, Mushi had, according to Mineski, free reign over which players would join the team’s new roster. While the majority of established players in the world of Dota 2 are locked into their respective qualifiers until the conclusion of the Kiev Major, the group Mushi has assembled certainly looks, on paper at least, like it could become a top team in the region.
The team is currently playing its debut tournament in the fourth edition of the SEA Kappa Invitational.
