Leaving Wonderland quest walkthrough
Leaving Wonderland begins immediately after Teeny, Tiny Problems, wrapping up the initial questline for the Wonderland Whimsy update in DDV.
To start, you’ll need to speak to Alice and get a Pot of Red Paint. The aim of this quest is to tidy up the Queen’s Maze before leaving the Wonderland Realm, starting with painting the rose trees red.
Apply the red paint to your watering can by using it in your inventory. Then, head to the five rose trees dotted around the immediate garden area and water them. They’ll turn red after you do this.
The next step is to fill in seven burrows with your shovel. These are in the middle of the playing cards in the center of the garden—simply interact with them using your shovel.
Then, head back to the table where you found the keys during Teeny, Tiny Problems. Pick up the seven broken plates scattered around the table.
Once you’ve done this, head back to Alice and invite her to join you in Dreamlight Valley. She’ll agree, querying how you can get back there.
Use the bouncy mushroom near the table to get back to the forest. From the mushroom in the forest, head straight on for one section, then turn right and continue down the path towards the singing flowers. Head down the path to the left and run past the pencil bird to reach the exit mushroom.
Alice will then run away to the Cheshire Cat’s tree. Follow her and listen—Cheshire will hint at the next step in the quest being related to glowing mushrooms.
Run back to the entrance with Alice. Here, you need to hit the mushrooms in the correct order to find the exit. The mushrooms you need to light up are the purple mushroom and the blue mushroom. Once you do this, the door back home will appear—but it’ll still be tiny.
Alice will give you the rest of the Contrary Perfume, suggesting you use it on the door. To do this, use your watering can on the door. Speak to Alice, then leave.
The next step is to choose a spot to build Alice’s house and welcome her to the neighbourhood. It’ll cost you 5,000 Star Coins to build her home.
Speak to Alice after this about Cheshire. Then, head back into the Wonderland Realm and follow the path back to Cheshire’s tree.
When you speak to Cheshire and invite him to the Valley, he’ll ask you to close your eyes. When you open them, he’ll be gone, and a trail of bright pink pawprints will be leading away from the tree.
Follow them along the path to the right until it ends, then turn right again and keep heading on until you reach the first pond. Turn right again and follow the path back to the Valley.
From here, exit the Dream Castle and find Alice. We initially ran into an issue where Alice did not offer the final quest dialogue and kept asking if we’d been back to the Realm to find Cheshire—fast traveling back to the Realm, retracing our steps, and returning to her fixed this.
When you speak to Alice after following the pawprint trail, she’ll tell you that Cheshire is now running around in the Valley but that he prefers to do his own thing. This will wrap up the quest instantly.
