One of the common ingredients you need for potions and elixirs in Diablo 4 is a fruit called Biteberry. This fruit is required to upgrade your healing potion at one point as well, so farming it efficiently is important.
If you have played enough Diablo 4, then you likely stumbled across Biteberry at least once or twice. It’s a red berry that appears on specific bushes in certain regions of Sanctuary. However, you probably have not attempted to farm it before, which could prove useful if you’re planning on using specific potions throughout your run in Diablo 4, particularly in the early game.
To see exactly how and where you can farm Biteberry in Diablo 4, check out the guide below.
Best ways to farm Biteberry in Diablo 4
In my experience, there are three primary ways to successfully farm Biteberry in Diablo 4. These are all fairly reliable methods and two of them can be done at any level, while the last one will have to wait until you are completing endgame content.
Here are the three methods I have found to farm Biteberry:
Going around Fractured Peaks
Biteberry most commonly spawns in the starting region of Fractured Peaks. More specifically, you can find Biteberry bushes growing in the snow-covered areas of the region.
While snow doesn’t have to be present for Biteberry to appear, I find that snowy spots tend to spawn more of the bushes than other spots. As such, I suggest sticking to the southern and northern parts of Fractured Peaks if you want to find bushels of Biteberry. The best spot, in my opinion, is the area to the south of Kyovashad, where you first travel with Lorath after meeting him at his cabin in the opening sequence of the game.
As for the northern part of Fractured Peaks, right around the Kor Dragan Stronghold is known to spawn a solid amount of Biteberry bushes. All you’re looking for in any of these areas is a green bush with red berries growing on them. When you find one, just walk up to it, pick the fruit, and it will be placed in your inventory.
Exchanging Gallowvine with an Alchemist
The second method of acquiring large amounts of Biteberry requires you to have an even larger stash of another fruit, called Gallowvine.
If you have had more luck finding Gallowvine, then you can exchange them for Biteberry at an Alchemist’s shop. The first Alchemist you unlock is located in Kyovashad, but any local town will likely have one. At the Alchemist, go to the Refine Resources tab and click on Biteberry.
Doing this will show you that you need 200 gold and five Gallowvine to exchange for a single Biteberry. Repeating this process over and over will earn you as many Biteberry as you want, provided you have enough gold and Gallowvine.
Opening up caches
The final method I have to get Biteberry is to find it via caches. Caches are often rewards for completing side quests, but you also get them for exchanging 10 Grim Favors at the Tree of Whispers.
The Tree of Whispers is locked until you finish the main story, so this is the endgame method I referred to earlier. Of course, you can also complete side quests during the main story to earn caches, but this is a far more tedious process than using the Tree of Whispers.
With the Tree of Whispers, every time you exchange 10 Grim Favors, you get the ability to open up a cache. Opening the cache often leads to receiving numerous ingredients, and Biteberry is commonly among them. However, it’s not guaranteed, so you might have to make several trips to the Tree of Whispers and exchange a few dozen Grim Favors before getting your Biteberry from a cache.
And those are all the methods I have to farm Biteberry in Diablo 4. Since the resource is mostly random, there aren’t a ton of guaranteed farming methods, but these are the best you can do in Sanctuary.
