New Delta Force Operator isn’t the class the game desperately needs, but at least he has smokes

And tracking.

The latest Delta Force Operator is, unfortunately, not a support. Even though there have been no new supports since the game’s release, the latest addition is an engineer called Gizmo, who specializes in tracking down anyone who enters his space.

On Nov. 4, Delta Force showcased Gizmo and his abilities, which are all about crowd control and slowing enemy movement, making him more akin to Shepherd but with more targeting. Gizmo’s gadget is a nest of spider drones that track and pursue targets within range, dealing damage, tagging enemies, and creating smoke. His tactical gear is a larger drone that follows a path and throws a web when spotting an enemy.

Last is his Smoke Mine, which triggers automatically when an enemy is nearby or can be activated manually. Target detection, smokes, and crowd control make Gizmo look like a mix of Recon and Engineer classes, with the addition of a smoke, which so far has been primarily found on supports (and D-Wolf).

Gizmo arrives on Nov. 18 with Season Ahsarah, alongside a new map, mini-mode, collaboration, and more.

The gameplay trailer showcased each of Gizmo’s abilities, and while it’s hard to say how effective they are until we try them in Season Ahsarah, it gives a good idea of the kind of playstyle we can expect.

Here are all of Gizmo’s abilities in Delta Force:

  • Smoke Mine (Gadget): Places a Smoke Mine, which is automatically triggered when an enemy enters its detection zone, releasing smoke. It may also be triggered manually by the Operator.
  • Crawler Nest (Gadget): Deploys a nest containing three sentry bots. Once deployed, they autonomously track and pursue enemies within range. On contact, they explode, dealing damage, slowing, and tagging enemies while also creating smoke.
  • Tenacious Interception Module (Tactical gear): Deploys a larger drone that patrols in a designated direction, automatically entering tracking mode upon detecting an enemy. When a target is within range, T.I.M. releases a web that restricts their movement.

An engineer’s role is to control space and slow down the enemy. Smoke Mine, paired with the Crawler Nest, can do exactly that, especially if the enemy gets hit by both. However, depending on the bots’ range and behavior, Gizmo might also be able to set himself up for more offensive play.
