Two titans of YouTube are currently locked in battle to become the number one most subscribed channel on the platform.

Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg, the Swedish YouTube king, has reigned on top of the content creator pile for as long as people can remember but he is slowly being caught by Indian record and movie label T-Series, which is a mere thousand subscribers away from taking the crown.

T-Series’ rise comes from the massive population it targets and the amount of videos it’s able to produce on a daily basis. T-Series can get anything from 150,000 to 200,000 new subscribers a day, while PewDiePie can only get a fraction of that.

The continued efforts of other YouTubers such as MrBeast and Markiplier to advertise PewDiepIe’s channel, however, have kept him at the top for now.

If the current trend continues, PewDiePie could lose his number one spot sometime at the start of 2019. But so long as the big names of YouTube continue to support him, PewDiePie could hold onto the number one spot for just a little while longer.
