En route to securing the top spot in Group A, Team SoloMid completed a near-flawless performance against Team Liquid. After winning the terrorist side on Overpass 15-0, just one round win on the CT side was enough to see Team SoloMid take the victory with a perfect score of 16-0.

The Danish side once again looked good against Virtus.pro in the winner’s match, taking it out 16-3 despite a strong performance from Virtus.pro’s PaweÅ‚ ‘byali’ BieliÅ„ski.

Team SoloMid’s group stage success comes just days after falling short in the IEM San Jose final to Na`Vi, when questions about the team’s future in the game began to surface.

Elsewhere, one of the game’s strongest teams—and DreamHack Cluj champions—EnVyUs were shocked by Ninjas in Pyjamas in the Group B opener. The Swedish underdogs were buoyed by the supportive crowd, pushing them to a surprising 16-8 victory.

EnVyUs now face a tough match against the loser of Luminosity and Fnatic to stay in the tournament.
